A History of the World

The BBC and British Museum's new project launched yesterday. Its cornerstone is a 100 part series on BBC Radio 4 where British Museum Director Neil MacGregor explores the history of the world through 100 objects from the Museum. There is a highly interactive website accompanying the series to which users are invited to upload information about their own objects, as well as a children's TV game show, and related activities are happening nationally.

The project ought to tell us much about the relationship between religion and society throughout the history of the world through material culture- a subject gaining increasing academic attention.
