New Forms of Public Religion
05 September 12
Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th September 2012, St John’s College, University of Cambridge
The fact that religion has not privatised, but remains an important aspect of public life, is now well recognised. But talk of ‘public religion’ can be vague and unfocused. The aim of this conference was to explore – with new findings – the forms which public religion is taking today, not only in the West, but elsewhere in an increasingly connected world. It showcased projects funded by the Religion and Society Programme and the SSHRC (Canada) Religion and Diversity Project, alongside other new research in this area.
