Professor Linda Woodhead
Director
Professor Linda Woodhead
Listen to Linda talking about the Programme here.
I am Director of the Religion and Society Programme. This role involves co-ordinating the Programme and making sure it meets its objectives; overseeing the commissioning of research; acting as the public face and contact point for the Programme; liaising between the research councils and the projects they are funding; adding value to the research on the Programme, e.g. by offering training courses to researchers, and by bringing the researchers together to learn from one another; and helping ensure that research findings are communicated effectively to the right constituencies, and that they have maximum impact.
My research involves theoretical and empirical exploration of religion, with a particular focus on religion in contemporary western societies, and my hobbies include cars and dogs. For more information please visit my personal website [see below].
I am Professor of Sociology of Religion at Lancaster University. The Directorship buys a proportion of my time for five years, but I am still based at the University.
