Research Associate
Dr Rebecca Catto
I took up my role as Research Associate for the Religion and Society Programme in March 2009. I support the Director in collecting, analysing and disseminating the findings of the numerous interesting and varied projects funded by the Programme. I have also taken over main responsibility for the website.
I completed my PhD in Sociology supervised by Professor Grace Davie, which was an investigation of ‘reversal’ in contemporary Christian mission, at the University of Exeter in 2008. Prior to this I did an MA in the Anthropology and Sociology of Religion at King’s College London and studied Theology at Oxford. In 2007 I was a guest doctoral student at the Centre for the Study of Religion and Society, Uppsala University, Sweden, and I was an assistant research officer at INFORM, LSE directly before moving to Lancaster for this position. I have also taught in the Sociology department at the University of Westminster. I am interested in Christianity, state/religion relations, secularism, youth and religion and theoretical innovations in sociology, as well as proselytization.
I am based full-time at Lancaster University.
